The MNM Junior Surf Team took to fairly fun and rippable small waves on the weekend at the Volcom Kirra Junior Teams Challenge.
The event held over both Saturday and Sunday the 21st & 22nd of September attracted clubs from all over the country, the prize, bragging rights as Australia's best junior board riders club.
Under the ever watchful eye of Coach Gibbo and a thousand or so cheering spectators the boys did themselves proud, all being extremely competitive against their more experienced competitors.
Day one started withRyan Amey, Callum Heath and Jack Springfield all finishing 2nd in their respective heats.
Day two saw McCoy Hassett, Ellie Brooks and Blake Webb struggle in less than average conditions scoring a 4th, 3rd, and a 2nd respectively.
Over all the team did themselves proud finishing 12th out of a field of 24 national club teams. A great result considering Ryan and Mcoy gave away up to 4 years of experience to their opposing surfers, Callum Heaths first outside of club rounds competition, a jet lagged Ellie filling a late withdrawal after returning form Fiji at 1am that morning and Jack and Blake both missing out on 1st's by a whisker with some great surfing.
All in all, the team was extremely competitive and has provided the club with a positive Junior competitive future.
Thanks to Gibbo and all the parents and supporters who came down to cheer on.
