![]() JUNIOR PERFORMANCE CAMP RUN DOWN. Firstly, a big congratulations to all MNM camp participants. A summary from the event organisers revealed all the groms behaved, got involved and absorbed the camp content with enthusiasm. From all reports, it was a significant step in the development for our Junior club surfers. Not only where they educated in a range of healthy lifestyle and sports ideas but got to experience tow in & step off surfing with some of the best watermen in the world (eh Polsy !). Best of all, they made new friends and got to know some of the kids they are usually only trying to get waves off at their local. For those that stuck around and competed in, or just supported, the surf comp at Burleigh Point on the Sunday, well done ! We have, as juniors and groms put MNM on the map. In the Juniors, we entered 3 surfers into the round of 30 under 18 boys. Blake Webb & Bennett Bethune set the early pace with good solid wins in their respective heats. 1/4's and semi final/s while Ellie Brooks took some of the boys to task sneaking through her heat and putting all the finalists on notice with a solid 1/4 final and semi performance. The final saw the Burleigh crew utilise their local point break knowledge and in a tight struggle, took out first and second place while our MNM chargers filled 3rd, 4th and 6th. Overall, our MNM Juniors contested fiercely, congratulations to all 3 of you, your club is proud of you. Final results were: 1st Josh Hyland (BB) 2nd Kane Stone (BB) 3rd Ellie Brooks (MNM) 4th Blake Webb (MNM) 5th Kai O'Brien (BB) 6th Bennett Bethune (MNM) On the Groms side of the comp, it was again a very competitive and talented array of surfers that took to the good conditions but challenging paddle out. All MNM groms that competed rose to the challenge and surfed well. Well done to Toby Mossop who surfed his heat 1/4's and semis well, only to miss out on the final by .000000002 of a point and lack of one more decent wave (We needed an MNM judge in there didn’t we Toby!) Marc Lewis, Dane Prostamo - Brown and Matt Jeffery also surfed well, winning some heats and putting in a solid performances through to the 1/4's. Thanks to all the other groms that also competed. Its all on the way up from here ! Finally, a really big thanks to our MNM Parent assists, Frank (Prostamo), Paul (King) and Michael (Hassett). Without these parents help the camp would not be possible. On behalf of the MNM Committee, the kids and the parents, thanks very much fella's.
