Here is a brief overview of our current sponsorship of Paul Ntikoisa, part of the Maasi Education Fund.
MNM Boardriders Club currently sponsor Paul for $60 per year via this charity originally established by 2 Perth school teachers who were teaching in the area some years ago. During their time, they identified a very promising young maasi student, Emmanuel Sakuda who used to walk 11 klm (I thing) each way to school each day & study by candle light at night. This fund was established & Emmanuel has completed his education with the assistance of the fund. He has graduated with honours from University of Nairobi in Actuarial Science, moved into the Insurance field in Nairobi but continued for many years to assist his Community in Kajiado County. He has grown in stature to become a Leader in his Community but continued to assist in the growth of the Education Fund on a Voluntary basis whilst continuing with his career. Recently, he has taken up a full time position with the Maasai Education Fund as he wishes to ensure the children of Kajiado County receive the best possible educational opportunities so they to can contribute back to the community in years to come. Within the Hastie / Rubeck Family, we now sponsor 5 children & MNM sponsors Paul. This only a small yearly contribution with additional funds paid for special purchased plus other funds are being set aside to assist another young student, Joshua Kolian who commences High School next year. Both Colleen & I were fortunate to visit the families we sponsor back on 24th May, 2011. This was certainly a highlight of our trip to Kenya, visiting 2 families in different areas of the community where we were treated like King & Queen during the day. Here is a photo of our visit to one of the families. Any Boardriders Club of Club Member is welcome to sponsor a child & we can arrange a contact with Kath Collier in Perth or visit here to arrange payment via RAWCS - Rotary Australia world community service, the charity have the privilege of having this organization listed as a genuine projects seeking donations. Donations paid via RAWCS can then be claimed as a personal tax deduction. You can view more about MEF by googling Maasai Education fund,RAWCS.
